Defamation Suit: I Stand By My Publication- Manasseh Azure

Investigative journalist Manasseh Awuni Azure has upheld his statements about Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) in his recently published book.
He stands ready to face the company in court to defend himself and his work.
It comes after he received the GH₵21 million defamation suit writ filed against him by the company through his lawyers.
In a Facebook post, the former editor for the Fourth Estate further stated, “I stand by everything I have published on the SML scandal and am ready to defend it in court.”
The suit was filed in November 2024 over his reference to the Company’s contract with the GRA as “the biggest scam”, and “shady,” among others in his book “The President Ghana Never Got”.
Over the weekend, it was widely circulated that the journalist was evading service; however, he issued a statement to debunk the claim, noting he has been based in the United States of America (USA) since August 2024.
According to him, this is his 11th defamation suit in the past ten years.
“This is the 11th defamation suit against me since 2015. I have never run away from any suit. I am a law-abiding citizen and will avail myself to defend my work, which has saved Ghana hundreds of millions of dollars and resulted in reforms and successful prosecutions.”
