Decisive Leadership Is Antidote to Myriad Challenges Facing Children- Lordina Mahama
Her Excellency Lordina Mahama has proffered decisive leadership as the panacea to myriad challenges that confront children of the current dispensation across the globe.
Speaking at the 7th Annual Prayer Service for Children on Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Church Centre for the United Nations, she highlighted the repercussions of conflict and humanitarian crisis on children caught up in such situations.
This, she said, robs them of their childhood, forces them to fight and go through terrible experiences.
“These are precious lives destroyed by circumstances beyond their control…The challenges facing our children are immense, but they can be tackled through decisive leadership.”
“When nations fail to focus on policies that safeguard the home, strengthen communities and nurture the youth, it is our children who suffer the most. When conflicts erupt, they are the ones who lose parents, siblings, homes and dreams and carry emotional scars that last a lifetime.”
The First Lady of Ghana, therefore, underscored the essence of the prayer service, affirming that it was a moment to pause, reflect and seek divine intervention.
“It is a moment to collectively pray for the wisdom our leaders need to make the right decisions…With divine wisdom, our leaders can follow paths of peace and progress for all children. Prayer builds strength not just in the children who face adversity but in us as parents to continue to work hard for their well-being.”
The Prayer Service, convened on the margins of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, is organised by World Vision International in collaboration with leading global faith-based and humanitarian partners.
This year’s theme, “A Moment of Hope,” will explore six dimensions of hope, compassion, resilience, purpose, joy, wisdom, and spiritual life, at a time when the world is grappling with unprecedented challenges.
