Date for Napo Unveiling Revealed
A date has been set and announced for the unveiling of former Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Running Mate of the 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to the National Organiser of the party, Henry Nana Boakye, the event will be held at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 9, 2024.
In a post on Facebook, Nana B, as he is affectionately called, wrote, “OFFICIAL OUTDOORING CEREMONY OF NPP’s RUNNING MATE (NAPO) {on} TUESDAY, 9TH JULY 2024 {at} KUMASI, JUBILEE PARK {at} 2 PM SHARP”
Dr Bawumia has chosen Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh who is currently the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency and Energy Minister as his Running Mate.
He officially presented him to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the leader of the NPP, at the Jubilee House last week which reports say received no objections.
He has since presented his choice to the National Officers and the leadership of the Majority in Parliament this week.
The National Council of the party will this week deliver their verdict about the choice.
With Dr Opoku Prempeh who hails from the Ashanti- Region NPP’s stronghold- the party seeks to leverage and break the 8-year jinx to win a third consecutive term in power.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, June 3, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sought Parliamentary approval for the appointment of Deputy Energy Minister, Herbert Krapah, as the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry citing workload on the Ministry for the decision.
