Current Generation Need To Renew Our Security Duty; Osafo Marfo Speaks On ‘See Something; Say Something Campaign’
Senior Minister of State, Hon. Yaw Osafo-Marfo, in relation to the recent terrorist activities in West Africa and threats toward Ghana, has said that, the current generation needs to renew their commitment to our security duty.
Speaking at the launch of “See something; say something campaign” on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the Senior Minister said, the campaign is aimed at enhancing public awareness towards safeguarding our nation against terrorism.
He emphasized that, Ghana is a peaceful and stable nation as revealed by the recent edition of the global peace index, where Ghana is ranked first in West Africa, second in Africa, and thirty-eighth globally. For this reason, investors have the zeal to come to Ghana but for the first time there is a threat that the country has to be proactive in dealing with the situation, he added.
Hon. Yaw Osafo-Marfo highlighted that, the West African Sub-region according to the global peace index’s report has become the center of terrorism and violence extremism that poses the country to such threats.
The Minister explained that, such terrorists seek to invade countries endowed with mineral resources to fund their various activities which qualify Ghana in this regard. As such, everyone needs to get involved in the fight against the prospect of terrorist attack. He stated that, the government is giving the defense Ministry, the Interior, National Security, and the other institutions towards the safety of the country against terrorism.
