Consumer Protection Law; Bill To Protect Consumers And Penalize Faulted Providers Ready To Be Laid Before Parliament
The care taker of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor Wednesday, February 15, 2023, presented a statement on the floor of parliament seeking to introduce a new bill known as the Consumer Protection Law to help protect the consuming public from undesirable services offered them.
Reading a statement, he said the bill is near completion and with cabinet approval will be laid before parliament and if adopted taken through the consideration stage.
The bill is to establish an authority to regulate consumer protection issues if parliament passes it.
The Minister indicated that this will help the individual consumers to also have a right should a consumer feel shortchanged in any transaction.
The statement attracted a lot of comments and support from members on the both sides of the House.
