Complainant Shot Dead while Leading Police to Culprit
A complainant met his untimely death on Tuesday morning while leading a team of police officers to effect the arrest of a suspect at Okanta, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.
Identified as Daniel Dosu, he is said to have reported an issue to the Police Headquarters in the region for redress.
The incident per a report by the Ghana Police Service, occurred when some Police officers from the Eastern South Regional Police Headquarters, in the company of the complainant, were ambushed by an unknown assailant while on their way to effect an arrest at Okanta.
Dosu was shot in the forehead and was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital while one police officer also sustained an injury.
His body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue.
Meanwhile, five persons have been arrested in connection with the incident identified as Daniel Quaye, Joshua Aboagye, Kwesi Acquaye and Acquaye Samuel.
“An intelligence-led operation following the attack led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Daniel Quaye, who was later identified as one of the suspects the deceased complainant was leading the Police to arrest. Further Police investigation led to the arrest of the four other suspects.”
The suspects are aiding in police investigations while the injured Police officer has been treated and discharged from the hospital.
