Claim Dead Bodies By February 28; Police Hospital Ahead of a Mass Burial

The Police have instituted a window for persons with missing relatives and friends to visit the Pathology Unit of the Police Hospital in Accra to identify and claim their remains.

According to the police, there are about 200 unclaimed bodies at the morgue waiting to be claimed or buried in a mass burial after the first quarter of 2025.

“The police hospital has announced plans to conduct a mass burial for approximately 200 unidentified bodies deposited at the mortuary.”

In a broadcast, the Ghana Police Service said the scheduled exercise is aimed at decongesting the facility and ensuring the proper maintenance of its storage unit.

“Members of the public are being urged to check with the police hospital pathology department to identify and claim any missing or deceased relatives.

“Relatives or friends with inquiries about the unidentified or unclaimed persona are encouraged to contact the hospital as soon as possible.”

It noted that the public has until 28th February, 2025 to identify and collect of bodies, adding that, “After this date, all unclaimed bodies will be included in the mass burial.”

Meanwhile, the public has been urged to assist in disseminating the information.
