Chris Hughton Takes Over Black Stars
Former Nottingham Forest Manager, Chris Hughton will now coach Ghana’s senior National team, the Black Stars, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced.
He was the technical advisor of the team when Otto Addo was the Head Coach.
His appointment now comes after extensive deliberations between the two parties, the GFA said in a statement on Sunday, February 12, 2023.
He will be assisted by George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
The Football Association said the appointment of Hughton is in line with its vision to “continue with the project of building a formidable squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament”.
Hughton was the Technical Advisor of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.
He was picked from among some 60 applicants for the role following the exit of Otto Addo in December 2022.
It can be recalled that a few weeks ago, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Goerge forecasted the Black Stars job will be handed to Chris Hughton.
In an interview he said, “that job, they’ve given it to Chris Hughton already so why are they wasting our time? They’ve given it to him because they want someone they can manipulate”.
Following the announcement last night, one social media user posted, “Sam George is Vindicated!”
The legislator reacted, “This Country called Ghana eh, may God just continue to give us grace. When I said this decision was done about a month ago, they wanted my head for breakfast. Well, in the words of Fabrizio Romano, Here We Go!”
The terms of Hughton’s contract are yet to be communicated.
