Chairman Kwaku Amponsah Lays Bare Kotoko’s Troubles After Hearts of Oak Defeat

The Patron of the National Circles Council (NCC), Chairman Kwaku Amponsah K5, has spoken on the prevailing issues at the club following a loss in the Super Clash.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko was beaten for the first time at home and suffered their fourth defeat of the season in their eleventh league game at home to arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
Mohammed Camara, Asante Kotoko’s shot-stopper, gave a terrible performance, allowing Baba Adamu to score after Martin Karikari’s orchestrated free kick in the fourteenth minute of the match.
Asante Kotoko got a golden opportunity after Emmanuel Amankwah was shown a red card at the 30th minute, but the Porcupine Warriors had a series of attempts quashed off by Benjamin Asare.
Kotoko looks scattered and disjointed after the clash, especially the supporters reacting in an abusive manner and demanding a managerial shake-up at the club.
Kwaku Amponsah K5, the former National Circles Council Chairman, spoke with Eugene Quame Anane of Pramaso on Opemsuo Radio last Monday night on the current challenges in Asante Kotoko.
“There was no pattern of play in Asante Kotoko’s set-up last Sunday, so I agree with anyone who thinks there was no coach at the dugout in the Super Clash; they failed to penetrate through Hearts of Oak’s defence even after they were shown a red card,” he said.
Chairman K5 was very emphatic in revealing the real issues about Asante Kotoko, and he blew hot and cold to point out that the problem at the moment has to be purely a technical deficiency.
K5 stated, “The technical structure (coaching) is the present problem at Asante Kotoko; that’s my point of view, even not at all, teams that defeat the club are those that have not performed well in the season.”
“To be frank, the management of Asante Kotoko should quickly seek a suitable caretaker coach; Coach Prince at the helm of affairs will be a huge problem to the Porcupine Warriors,” K5 gave recommendations.
