Cape Coast–Accra Highway Crash Claims 8 Lives

Eight persons have died in a road accident at Kormantse along the Cape Coast–Accra Highway.

The accident happened in the wee hours of Saturday, September 6, 2025, involving a Mercedes Benz (AS 4146-25) and a Hino truck (GW 5958-25).

The Mercedes Benz was heading towards Cape Coast while the Hino truck was travelling to Accra.

A statement by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the Mankessim Fire Rescue Team responded to the incident around 3:50 a.m.

It reported that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.

Meanwhile, five others including a child sustained injuries.

“Road has since been cleared and reopened to traffic.”

Investigations are underway to establish the cause.
