Build Wealth Around Your Stools- Asantehene to Chiefs

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged traditional authorities under his authority to consciously build wealth around their stools to create a legacy for future generations.

He counselled chiefs to set up bank accounts for their stools and divert stool’s portion of proceeds from the sale of lands and other ventures into it.

The Occupant of the Golden Stool again pointed out that chiefs should not use their personal bank accounts to manage the stool’s financial resources.

He said that this would discourage the families of chiefs from claiming ownership when they pass away.

Additionally, he indicated that it will prevent conflict of interest and quell mistrust.

His Majesty furthered, “I have consciously stuffed the accounts of the Kumasi Traditional Council and the Asanteman Council since I ascended the stool. KTC and Asanteman make no money but I have been putting money in their accounts.”

“Now we have quite substantial amounts of money in there. Let’s all learn from that. I have a wife and children too,” he said during an Asanteman Council meeting on August 27, 2024.

The sitting on Monday looked into pending cases including Berekum stool affairs, Duayaw Nkwanta, Awua Duamse, Sabronum and Denyase.

Additionally, Obogumahene Nana Owusu Ampah III showed appreciation to Otumfuo.
