Bring Murderers Of Ahmed Suale To Justice; Mahama Calls

Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the administration of President Akufo-Addo and the Ghana Police Service to ensure that justice prevails over the heinous murder of Journalist Ahmed Suale.

This comes after reports that a journalist with Aljazeera, Shireen Abu Akleh, had been shot to death by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank while she was covering Israeli raids in the city of Jenin.

The incident took place on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Commenting on the news of her death, Mahama said the act was “condemnable” and prayed that perpetrators of the act would be brought to book.

“The killing of ace Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is a most condemnable act. For a journalist who has for many years covered and brought us reports of events in Israel and the Middle East region, we all mourn her loss. It is our prayer that whoever pulled the trigger and any associates will be brought to justice through an independent and transparent process,” he said in a Facebook post.

He went ahead to recall the death of a Ghanaian investigative journalist who until his death in 2019, was with the Tiger Eye PI, Ahmed Suale who was shot by unknown men while heading towards his home in his car.

Three years down the line, no one has been prosecuted for his death.

“Having said that, we also note that the murderers of Ghanaian journalist, Ahmed Suale, are still walking free. We call on the Akufo-Addo administration and the Police Service to take this investigation seriously and bring the murderers to justice”, the 2020 flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress said.
