Brace For Outages for the Next 3 Weeks- ECG, GRIDCo
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) have told customers to brace themselves for some interruptions in power supply in the coming days.
This is as a result of a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria by a gas supplier for maintenance works, the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) is quoted to have said.
The said maintenance is projected to last three (3) weeks, the ECG and the GRIDCo said in a joint statement.
“The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) wish to inform the public that due to a reduction in gas supply from Nigeria since yesterday, Wednesday 12th June, 2024 some areas across the country have experienced interruption in power supply.”
“The maintenance has caused a reduction in overall power generation capacity in Ghana which could result in load management over the period of the work,” it added as it apologized for the inconvenience that may arise.
They, however, assured the public of the needed collaboration with other stakeholders in the power value chain to optimise available resources to ensure minimal impact of the reduction in gas supply on consumers.
