Bono Regional Minister Using Political Position to Push His Interest in Sampa Chieftaincy Matter- Otumfuo

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has criticized the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa’s persistent meddling in Sampa Chieftaincy matter using the political power he wields.
His Majesty observes that the Minister was a lawyer to the faction opposing the legitimately enstooled Chief in all court cases they subsequently lost.
After failing on legal grounds, he is attempting to push his interests using his political power.
Addressing the Asanteman Council at a meeting on December 15, 2025, Otumfuo emphasised that he will not allow his plots to go through.
“He has written to the government claiming there is a security crisis in the town and that has been admitted. You can’t get political power and use it to intimidate and cheat others. We will not allow it.”
Meanwhile, Otumfuo stated that he will give the requisite attention to traditional councils under his authority in the Bono and Bono East regions in the coming years.
“Some chiefs are wavering, but I encourage you all to exercise restraint.”
The resolution of the Sampa chieftaincy conflict paved the way for the enstoolment of Nana Sampa Gyafla and subsequent oath-swearing before the Asantehene and Asanteman in accordance with tradition and constitution.
The losing faction refused to accept the outcome and went ahead to challenge the ruling in court, which they subsequently lost.
