Body of Teenager Retrieved from River at Fiapre

The body of a 14-year-old boy has been retrieved from a river at Fiapre in the Bono Region.

 

The boy identified as Matthew Mahama went swimming with his friends on February 5, 2026, when he drowned.

It took the intervention of personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) retrieve the body.

The lifeless body has since been handed over to the Police for preservation and further investigation.

 

“The Ghana National Fire Service extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and urges the public to exercise extreme caution around water bodies,” it added in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Service said it remained committed to public education on drowning prevention and to responding swiftly and professionally to emergencies to save lives.
