Blue Water Guards Deal Heavy Blow to Galamseyers, Burn Equipment Worth GHS15m

Blue Water Guards have inflicted a heavy loss on illegal mining operators at Nantiedi, around Agogoso following a coordinated ‘mega’ operation.

According to the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Atwima Mponua, Hon. Issahak Ibrahim, over 150 locally manufactured illegal mining equipment were destroyed by the Anti-Illegal Mining Taskforce, working together with dedicated security service operatives.

The equipment is valued at approximately GHS 15 million.

“It was indeed a fulfilling exercise as we once again took decisive action to rid the River Offin of the destructive and callous activities of illegal miners.”

He commended the task force and the security agencies for their courage and commitment in protecting the environment.

Meanwhile, he said the District remained resolute in its fight against illegal mining.

“The protection of our rivers, lands, and future generations will always remain a top priority,” he emphasised.
