Black Stars Prodigy Semenyo Shortlisted for Player of the Month Award after 54 days at Etihad

The February 2026 EA Sports Player of the Month award has been officially nominated, and Ghana’s Antoine Selorm Semenyo has made the cut.
Semenyo, a red-hot Black Stars forward, joined the Citizens at Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window on January 9, 2026.

The former Bournemouth striker, Semenyo, joined five other English Premier League stars, including fellow Manchester City marksman Nico O’Reilly, Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres, Brentford’s Dango Ouattara, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool, and Benjamin Sesko of Manchester United.
Semenyo, after signing a five-and-a-half-year contract at a fee of £64m, has quickly become a key figure for City, playing an integral role in their pursuit of Arsenal. Semenyo provided three goals in February – in a 2-2 draw with Spurs and subsequent victories over Fulham and Leeds United.
The winger also assisted O’Reilly in Fulham’s triumph. The Ghanaian has shown his versatility by playing both in midfield and as a centre forward for his new team.

Semenyo received applause from a former player and now working as a pundit, Jobi McAnuff, on Sky Sports after the draw between Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.
McAnuff stated, “What a signing that he has proven to be, the impact that he has had so early in his Manchester City career, he has proven to be the difference, and he has done it again.”
After joining the Citizens in January 2026, has recorded goals against Exeter in the FA Cup, at St. James Park against Newcastle, Wolves, Tottenham Hotspurs at London, Fulham, Elland Road against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

He is set to feature in the UEFA Champions League for the first time in his career at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid at the Round of 16 stage, set to be played on March 10, 2026.
