Black Stars Have Quality Players But Captaincy Issues Need Attention- Kwesi Appiah

Former Black Stars head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has opined that the senior national team of Ghana is inundated with quality players.
However, he suggests that all lingering issues within the playing body, including concerns about the captaincy must receive the needed attention.
“I am hoping that what I have heard is true, that they’re trying to sort out the captaincy issue. If there are other issues, I hope they resolve them, but you know I’m not with the team, so it’s not everything that I know,” he told Luv FM.
In the interview, the head coach of Sudan’s senior national team indicated that the team’s potential and quality will not be realised unless all petty issues capable of causing divisions are resolved.
“If they’re able to sort the captaincy issue, then it’s okay, because the players we have are quality, and then we make sure there’s no division in the team. Without unity, we cannot achieve anything, so I hope and pray that Ghana will qualify for the World Cup.”
The Black will take two World Cup qualifying games this month after missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Currently, it sits at the second spot in Group I.
