Black Sherif Gets Featured in BECE Question
Ghanaian musician Black Sherif has been featured in the Creative Arts and Design subject of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The exam question asks students to write short notes on Black Sherif’s hometown, genre, notable works, and contributions to society.
“Write short notes on any of the following composers; focusing on his hometown, genre of work, one example of his works and contribution to society.
(i) Ephraim Amu
(ii) Agya Koo Nimo
(iii) Black Sherif”
The Creative Arts and Design subject, introduced at the Common Core Programme (CCP) level, aims to provide students with opportunities for self-expression, skill-building, and stress management.
Black Sherif’s inclusion in the exam may be a testament to the impact of his music on Ghanaian youth and the significance of arts education in the country.
Black Sherif’s remarkable journey began in Konongo-Zongo, Ashanti Region, where he was born and raised.
He developed a passion for music and dance during his secondary education at Kumasi Academy.
His breakthrough came in 2022 with the hit single ‘Kwaku the Traveller’, followed by his debut album ‘The Villain I Never Was’.
The 2024 BECE exam, which started on July 8, will conclude on July 15.
