Black Queens Coach Nora Häuptle’s Contract Expires
The contract of Black Queens head coach, Nora Häuptle with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expired.
The Swiss’ contract expired on December 31, 2024.
She is now expected to sign a two-year contract as the coach of the Copper Queens after her appointment was approved by the Executive Committee of the Zambia FA on Saturday, 21 December.
Nora in December refused to extend her contract with the GFA.
The 41-year-old’s decision to ditch Ghana followed the FA’s failure to provide the needed funds for the preparation of the Black Queens towards Women’s African Cup of Nations campaign.
It is reported that the Queens were expected to face Senegal and Tunisia in friendlies, however, the FA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports failed to approve the team’s budget.
In a post on LinkedIn the former defender, spilled, “I believe that success is built on continuous development. Providing as national team for our players as many high performance games is key. Because through these game experiences we can work, learn and grow as individuals and team. The difference in amount of games played in 2024 is huge between participating teams of WAFCON’24.”
The FA is now seeking a replacement to take the team to the tournament which is set for July 2025.
Nora was appointed Black Queens head coach in January 2023 after serving as technical advisor to the Ghana U-20 national team during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022.
The Swiss gaffer qualified Ghana to the Women’s African Cup of Nations for the first time since 2018.
