Berekum Chelsea Forward Dominic Frimpong Dies After Armed Robbery Attack

Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong has tragically passed away following a violent highway robbery attack on the team’s bus.

The incident happened when the team was returning from their Ghana Premier League match-week 29 fixture against FC Samartex.

Armed robbers reportedly blocked the road along the Bibiani-Goaso stretch at Ahyiresu, forcing players and officials to abandon the bus and flee into nearby bushes for safety.

During the chaos, several members of the team sustained injuries, with Frimpong suffering a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Bibiani Government Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities have launched a search for missing players and officials, while efforts continue to track down the attackers, who remain at large.

Frimpong joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, with the deal expected to run until the end of the 2025/26 season. The forward made 13 league appearances and scored twice during his time with the club.

His untimely death has sent shockwaves through the Ghana football community, as tributes begin to pour in for the young forward.
