Bawumia And Samira Mark 20th Wedding Anniversary
The country’s vice president and second lady are marking two decades of union since the commencement of their life journey together as husband and wife on this day of love.
H.E. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and H.E. Samira Bawumia tied the knot on February 14, 2004, four years after she graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM in 2020, the second lady whose husband is seeking to win the 2024 Presidential elections on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) revealed they met through a mutual friend.
This was after a listener sent in a question inquiring about how Dr Bawumia proposed to her.
She humourously reacted, “Do Ghanaian men propose?”
“I graduated from the university (KNUST) in 2000 and we got married in 2004. We met through a mutual friend and we were introduced. It was love at first sight.”
She also divulged, “He was never straight forward but then I realized he was interested in me.”
The couple is blessed with four kids, three boys and a girl.
On her Facebook wall today which also marks Valentine’s Day, Samira penned a message for her dearest with some pictures of their wedding attached.
“Happy 20th wedding anniversary, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Thanking God for our journey so far. Happy Valentine’s Day, my love. ”
