“The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has renewed the curfew hours on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region from 10: 00 pm to 4: 00 am, effective Monday, March 31, 2025.”

Additionally, he announced a total ban on all persons in the affected communities and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon as he vowed to arrest and prosecute perpetrators.

The Minister used the occasion to call on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the lingering chieftaincy dispute.

He further suggested the use of non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
