Basketmouth Apologises to AY over 17-Year Feud
In a surprising turn of events, renowned Nigerian stand-up comedian Basketmouth has taken a bold step towards reconciliation with his colleague, AY Makun. The comedians, who were once inseparable, had been embroiled in a bitter feud for an astonishing 17 years.
The feud between Basketmouth and AY Makun was brought to the forefront earlier in 2023 when AY, in a candid interview, revealed that their animosity had its roots in unpaid dues from a show he hosted for Basketmouth, a financial dispute that had festered like an unresolved sore.
However, Basketmouth has now extended a heartfelt and sincere olive branch in his latest video. He expressed genuine regret for any past actions or words that contributed to the deterioration of their once-strong friendship. In his video message, Basketmouth urged AY to let bygones be bygones and to seek common ground for the betterment of their relationship.
Basketmouth’s apology was not limited to his feud with AY alone. He took a broader approach, extending his apologies to the entire comedy industry and anyone he might have offended knowingly or unknowingly. He acknowledged that his apology might be long overdue but hoped it would be accepted with grace.
In his own words, Basketmouth stated, “To all the people in the industry and beyond that I have offended over time, knowingly or unknowingly, I say this from the bottom of my heart, I am genuinely sorry. And to the people who have accused me of doing things that have affected their career, I am not going to accept or deny these allegations, but please forgive me.
Addressing AY directly, Basketmouth said, “To my guy, Ay, I don’t know if my apology is still valid right now, but if it is, please forgive me for whatever I have done or said that affected you in the past. I just want you to forgive me.”
