{Audio} Italian Ambassador Assures Asantehene Of Lasting Friendship With Ghana
The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Daniela D’Orlandi, has reassured Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of Italy’s resolute to stay as friends with Ghana.
This, she said in Twi during a courtesy call to the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
“I’m here to celebrate the friendship between Italy and Ghana,” she told the King before proclaiming the longevity of the friendship in the official language of Asantes. She said she purposely learnt the sentence in Twi.
“Ayɔnkofa a Italy ne Ghana ɛwɔ mu no bɛwɔ hɔ daa,” to wit, long live the friendship between Italy and Ghana.
It marked her second visit to the Palace, she recalled.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be received today at the Manhyia Palace. It’s my second visit here. The first time we met here was in 2020 during Covid.”
She was led by Stefano Ramella Pezza, the Managing Director of Consar Limited and accompanied by her husband, Mr La Piana Antonino and her Security attachment, Mr Dilerma Nicila.
On his part, His Majesty called for increased trade between the two countries stating that there were enormous opportunities in Ghana.
“We also pray that the collaboration between Italy and Ghana will grow from strength to strength. We discussed trade increased up to about 800 million now and we hope that it will increase more.”
