Ashanti Regional Police Command Secures Conviction For 3 Nigerians
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has secured convictions for three Nigerians over theft activities targeting parked vehicles within the Kumasi Metropolis.
Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze were arrested on June 20, 2025, and arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on July 22, 2025.
During proceedings, Russell Ekenze pleaded guilty to the charges and was immediately convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour, while the other two suspects, Francis Friday and Linus Agwazie, pleaded not guilty.
The two were, however, found guilty when they reappeared in court and received an 8-year sentence in hard labour.

A statement by the police said all three suspects were on the same day arraigned at Circuit Court 1, where they received 20 years imprisonment in hard labour sentence each for additional charges against them.
The sentences will run concurrently.
In a related development, it added, “On 24th July 2025, Russell Ekenze was further convicted at Circuit Court 2, receiving an additional 10-year in hard labour sentence on two counts, to run concurrently with his existing sentence.”
The convicts are serving their terms at the Kumasi Central Prison.
The police noted that the successful prosecution underscores the Ashanti Regional Police Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting life and property and working with the judiciary to ensure that criminal elements, particularly those involved in organised and transnational crime, face the full rigours of the law.
“The Police urge the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities and providing timely information to aid in crime prevention and public safety,” it added.
