Ashanti Region to Host Outdooring of Bawumia’s Running Mate
The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has announced that the outdooring of the running mate of their flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will be hosted in their stronghold, the Ashanti Region.
The date and time for the event are not readily available as the choice of Dr Bawumia is yet to be approved by the governing party’s National Council.
In a post on Facebook, he confirmed, “ASHANTI REGION TO HOST THE OFFICIAL OUTDOORING CEREMONY OF THE RUNNING-MATE TO THE NEXT PRESIDENT, H.E BAWUMIA.”
Dr Bawumia has chosen Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency and Energy Minister as his Running Mate.
He officially presented him to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the leader of the NPP, at the Jubilee House last week which reports say received no objections.
He has since presented his choice to the National Officers and the leadership of the Majority in Parliament this week.
The National Council of the party will this week deliver their verdict about the choice.
With Dr Opoku Prempeh who hails from the Ashanti Region, the NPP seeks to leverage and break the 8-year jinx to win a third consecutive term in power.
