Ashanti Region: 522 Arrested In Police Raids
The Ashanti Regional Police Command is holding 522 suspected criminals arrested after police raids.
The suspects are reported to have been picked up during an operation that took place in 44 different districts in the Region weeks ago.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer said, “As part of measures to rid the Ashanti Region of criminal elements, the 44 police districts within the region have embarked on a series of separate swoops within the past weeks, and we have been able to arrest 522 suspects. Some of the suspects are assisting with the investigation.”
He noted that among the retrieved items, were substances suspected to be illegal drugs.
“We retrieved several exhibits, some are substances suspected to be Indian hemp, we have machetes, we have pair of scissors, quantity of assorted mobile phones, we have drinks we suspect are laced with India hemp and so many exhibits”, he said.
Meanwhile, some of the suspects who were found with cannabis will be handed over to the drug law enforcement unit and the exhibit taken to the Forensic Lab for analysis.
According to him all the suspects are being profiled for reference.
