Ashanti: Police Go After 4 Assembly Members
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has declared four assembly members of Bosome Freho wanted for their alleged involvement in a riot at Asiwa on July 13, 2022.
The four include Amoako Mensah of Tebeso Electoral Area, Clement Osei of Freso/Korchikrom Electoral area, Lot Adu Asabre of Yapesa/Kokobeng Electoral Area, and Maxwell Boachie Degraft of Dunkura electoral area.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti regional police command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo noted that the four were involved in the mayhem that resulted in the destruction of some properties of the District Assembly.
A video from the scene of the mayhem showed some men breaking chairs, tables and windows.
The four have also been given the choice to report to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi.
Background
On July 13, 2022, Assembly members met at the conference of Bosome Freho District to cast a vote of no confidence against their DCE, Yaw Danso.
Reports say that ahead of the exercise, they were served with a court injunction obstructing them.
The angry assembly members, therefore, decided to vent their anger by causing destruction, it is alleged.
