Ashanti and Eastern Regional Ministers Threaten Legal Actions against Democracy Hub Official

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, and the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, have threatened legal actions against Mr Wendell Yeboah, Head of Mobilisation at Democracy Hub.
Mr. Wendell Yeboah alleges that the Ashanti and Eastern Regional Ministers are involved in illegal mining activities.
In a statement, Dr Amoakohene denied the allegation.
“I wish to state firmly that I have never engaged in any form of illegal mining. The allegation is false, unfounded, and intended to misinform the public. I urge the public to disregard this claim in its entirety.”
He disclosed his lawyers had commenced formal steps to enjoin Mr Yeboah and Aluta FM, where he made the claims, to provide evidence to support their accusation or take immediate action to retract the statement and issue an appropriate apology.
“Failure to comply will result in legal proceedings being initiated against them.”
Rita also denied the claim, calling it baseless, unfounded, and completely untrue.
“I hereby state that I do not own a mining concession in the Eastern Region or anywhere in this country. I have never and do not engage in illegal mining.”
She furthered, “As minister in charge of a region faced with illegal mining, I have accepted the responsibility of ensuring that the government wins the fight against this illegal canker. I have, as always, acted with integrity and in the best interest of the people.”
She also disclosed that her lawyers are taking steps to demand a retraction and apology.
