Asanteman Mourns: Traditional Wives of Asantehene Perform Rites at Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s One Week

The traditional spouses of the King of the Asante Kingdom have duly honoured their customary obligations at the One-Week observation of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom.
They presented the requisite items before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, on August 21, 2025.
Rites were done by Queen of Ayigya, Oheneyere Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo II, in honour of their late mother-in-law in accordance with tradition.
Presenting them, she said, “We were made privy to the demise of our in-law. In accordance with tradition, we present these drinks and all needed rites have been performed.”
The event has drawn various dignitaries, including Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President John Agyekum Kufour, Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia.
Also present were IGP Christian Yohuno, Works and Housing Minister Kenneth Gilbert, Minister for Chieftaincy Ahmed Ibrahim, Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene, former Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, former Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, politician Kennedy Agyapong and former Chief of Staff Hon Akosua Frema Opare.
The officials of AngloGold Ashanti, Ghana Airports Company Limited, Royal Golf Club, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), and the British High Commission also joined.
