Asanteman Mourns: KMA Bans Vehicular Movement, Trading On Saturday

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has banned the movement of vehicles as well as trading activities within the Kumasi Metropolis as a planned cleanup exercise takes place this weekend.
The exercise scheduled for September 13, 2025, is part of preparations for the burial rites of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa.
“The KMA and Manhyia Palace remind all commercial drivers that no vehicular movement would be allowed during the stipulated period for the exercise,” it said in a statement.
“All trading activities and all shops in the City are to remain closed until 12noon while the owners partake in this exercise.”
The cleanup exercise will take place from 6 am to noon across the metropolis as part of efforts by the KMA and Manhyia Palace to make the City spotless and also presentable to people from all walks of life who will be mourning with Asanteman.
“Accordingly, all the Security Agencies and Volunteer Groups in the Metropolis are encouraged to take part in this special clean-up exercise.”
It also encouraged residents to “participate in the cleaning of our surroundings, especially from Airport Roundabout to Manhyia Palace stretch, Manhyia Palace to Amakom stretch and Manhyia, Ash Town and its surroundings.”
