Asanteman Mourns: Asantehemaa Lived A Christ-fulfilling Life- Saviour Church

The General Superintendent of The Saviour Church of Ghana, Hon Opanin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, has affirmed that the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, lived a Christ-fulfilling life.

According to him, the Queen who joined the church over 50 years ago, cultivated a personal relationship with God through prayer, scripture, and worship and remained committed and loyal to the church’s teachings.

Speaking at a memorial service held in her honour at the Manhyia Palace on August 14, 2025, the spiritual leader recounted how she received the message of the church, subscribed and fellowshiped with the congregation for 66 year until her passing on August 7.

Based on the books of Genesis, Corinthians, and Peter, he taught that individuals will be answerable for how they’ve used the Spirit of God entrusted to them.

According to him, Her Majesty diligently and dutifully committed to living a Christ-like life during her days on earth.

“The flesh is sand and has the possession within it. At the end of life, that spirit within you will go back to the creator for judgement. The flesh will go back to the sand. Nana decided to join our church to learn to live in righteousness in order to please her maker and render a better account to the Lord. Nana hemaa gave her body to Christ.”

“My responsibility is to direct people on how to live a good life to be able to render better accountability on judgement day. That is what I did with Nana. She has finished her work. We pray that God finds her righteous for following God all her life.”

Meanwhile, Hon Kwaku Adusei urged the congregants to shun the desires of the flesh and live according to the will of God.

“Being a believer is a way of life. It’s not about dressing. The word of God enjoins us to be holy as He is holy. He expects us to walk in light and be holy.”

“You can’t suppress the spirit of God in you. At the end of your life journey lies judgement. You can’t dwell in sin and survive during judgement. If you live in filth, this is the opportunity for repentance.”

Asantehemaa passed away on August 7, 2025.

One-week Observation
The Manhyia Palace has scheduled Thursday, August 21, 2025, for the one-week observation of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The date was announced by the Asantehene on August 11, 2025, during a meeting of the Asanteman Council, where chiefs and elders were formally informed of her passing.

About the Asantehemaa
Born in 1927 at the Benyaade Shrine in Meredane, a small town in Kwadaso, Kumasi, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was the first daughter of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II and Opanin Kofi Fofie. As an infant, she was entrusted to her aunt, Nana Afia Konadu, in Ashanti New Town, Kumasi, where she grew up receiving an informal education rich in cultural knowledge, discipline, and life skills.

During her teenage years, she underwent traditional puberty rites alongside her niece, Nana Abena Ansa, and later married Opanin Kwame Boateng, a blacksmith from Aduman, Kumasi. Known for her humility, compassion, and fairness, she earned deep respect across Asanteman.

In the mid-1990s, a prophecy foretold her future as Queen—a prediction fulfilled when she ascended the Nyarko Kusiamoah and Konadu Yiadom Stool on February 6, 2017, becoming the fourteenth Asantehemaa.

Her reign was distinguished by her advocacy for maternal health, promotion of breastfeeding, support for hospitals, and her efforts to maintain peace and unity within the Kingdom.
