Asantehene’s Guidance Has Held Me Through- Lands Minister

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has credited the fatherly guidance and directions he receives from the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his successful tenure.

He notes that these invaluable yet free benefits he derives from His Majesty are what are doing the magic for him in his management of the lands and minerals sector.

Expressing his ineffable appreciation to the King, he said his appointment by the President in 2021 was met with doubts among persons who thought he was too young for the position. However, finding and affiliating himself with His Majesty has given him all the muscles he needs to confront the challenge and task.

“I thank Otumfuo so much. It’s been four years since I was appointed to this position. Many people thought the work was way beyond my grasp but then my first port of call was here. I submitted myself under his direction and sought his blessings and since then, he has been my guide showing me the right path.”

He poured his heart to the King during a courtesy visit alongside John Allotey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Martin Ayisi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission and other executives.

Otumfuo in his remarks commended the Minister for staying united with all its subsidiary agencies and maintaining humility.

“I’m glad to see the unity that exists between you and all the heads of the agencies. When he first came to introduce himself, I advised him to remain humble and he has done just that. Continue in humility and work together.”

Also featuring in the meeting between His Majesty and Minister on June 19, 2024, was a proposal for a national dialogue on land administration in the country dubbed the “National Land Stakeholder Symposium”.

The proposal received the full support of His Majesty.
