Asantehene Visits Sawua Palace
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made a historic visit to the Palace of Sawuahene Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie II after an inspection of the Sawua Regional Hospital on Thursday.
The King was ushered into the Palace with the majestic sound of the fontomfrom, followed by beautiful dance displays by Manhyia Palace Fontomfrom and Kete Group.
The entrance of the Palace was crowded with students, traders and the community folks who wanted to catch sight of the Monarch in person. For most of the kids, who had excitement and curiosity written all over their faces, it could be told that it was their first encounter with the King.
Asantehene took a seat inside the Palace and was welcomed by Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie and Sawuahemaa Nana Akosua Brafi II who couldn’t hide their gratitude for the honourable visit.
They presented two rams and bottles of drinks as part of customary rites to receive Asantehene in their abode.
After hearing the mission of the King in the town which was in relation to the Sawua Regional Hospital, Nana Kwaku Amankwaa Sarkodie poured out his sentiments about the project to the King as he recalled how Otumfuo led the charge for the land to be released to the government for the construction years back.
He fears that if delayed any longer, medical equipment imported for use would develop defects.
“Electricity must be connected to the facility as soon as possible to prevent the expensive equipment from developing faults.”
He also informed Otumfuo about lands he had given out to the government for the construction of a Teaching Hospital and Nursing Training College and beseeched his intervention to see the projects executed.
