Asantehene to Dedicate First Monday of Each Month for Oath Cases Beginning 2026

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, plans to hear divisional-level cases related to the Great Oath on the first Monday of every month beginning next year.

Otumfuo said each month will be dedicated to a Division and it’s cases.

While communicating this, he warned Nananom against the kind of issues they will present before him.

His Majesty noted that some invocations are vain and need not to be tolerated.

Such is a current contention between Bantamahene and his Odikro.

“How can you sideline your superior chief’s oath and invoke my oath? As a sub chief, you can’t sideline your superior’s oath for mine. Such issues must not be countenanced.”

This, His Majesty envisions, will expedite the resolution of the piled up cases at the Division level.

“I made this decision because I have come to realise that there are a lot of pending cases, with the various Divisions,” Otumfuo said at the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on December 11, 2025.
