Asantehene To Attend “Memphis In May International Festival” Next Month
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will attend the 2022 Memphis in May International Festival, in the United States which is devoted to honouring the culture and heritage of Ghana.
A statement from the Palace has confirmed.
In the 44-year history of the festival, the friendly and diverse city of Memphis, Tennessee, devotes the festival to a different country and culture every year, and this year, the festival is honouring the culture and heritage of Ghana.
According to the statement, “His Majesty will arrive in Memphis in May 3, with a contingent of Paramount Chiefs representing chefs from all the regions in Ghana who owe allegiance to the Golden Stool, Queen-mothers, princes of the Golden Stool, and divisional chiefs”.
The statement indicated that this would be the first time a King had visited Memphis during the festival.
Highlights of Otumfuo’s visit include meeting withhh government and business officials and visit to areas of attraction and cultural importance.
