Asantehene Receives Ultimate Grand Africa Role Model Lifetime Achievement Award
The Governing Council of the Young Professionals and Young Coalition (YPYC), a youth development-oriented non-profit organization, has bestowed on the King of the Asante Kingdom, the Ultimate Grand Africa Role Model Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award in the form of a citation was presented to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace during the Awukudae Festival on June 5, 2024.
The honour was done on behalf of the organisation by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) chapter of the organization led by their founder and President, Mr Andy Okrah.
Admiring the royalty and regal splendour His Majesty represents, they acknowledged the immense contribution he has made in creating hope for the hopeless and a brighter future for thousands of the underprivileged.
“A modern-day King who combines traditional and cultural values with contemporary leadership principles to restore peace where there is chaos and instability, who brings hope, relief and succour where there is despair, and who has for over two decades, twenty-five (25) years to be specific expanded the frontiers of education for thousands of Ghanaian youth in the low-income earning bracket.”
Outlining some achievements of the King in their citation, they said, “Your Majesty, yet another credit to your name, was the win-win mediation of KNUST impasse between the Students, University Authorities and Government. You are a Chancellor par excellence. Above all, your name is etched in Gold for the pioneering role played in ending several chieftaincy feuds, notably the intractable Dagbon Chieftaincy Conflict which you skillfully navigated to secure the current peace being enjoyed by the people.”
“This is in recognition of your most outstanding transformational leadership and excellence in traditional governance and youth development with the establishment of the Otumfuo Education Fund, the Teachers Awards Scheme and Mobile Learning Project all under the Otumfuo Charity Foundation.. Otumfuo, a symbol of hope, peace, honesty and transparency, has marketed Brand Ghana as a safe Investment destination, attracting foreign direct Investments with its attendant provision of jobs.”
