Asantehene Meets First Graduating Batch of Bosomtwe STEM School

The Seventh Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace has created the opportunity for final-year students of Bosomtwe Girls STEM School to meet, pay homage and receive the blessings of the 16th Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The students were introduced to the King by a delegation made up of teachers and management members of the school led by the Headmistress, Madam Mary Donkor.

Speaking on their behalf, Otumfuo Hiahene Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II said, “The country’s first girls’ Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) school in Ghana constructed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the Ashanti Region began admissions in 2022. The first batch of students from the school will graduate this year and therefore the decision to come introduce them to the King.”

Each student had the rare opportunity to receive a handshake from the King to their delight. Their excitement could not be hidden as they facially made their joy known.

The Akwasidae festival was held on September 15, 2024.

Over the past years, Otumfuo has been a vocal advocate for investment in STEM, noting that it holds the future of the country.

He has also met several teenage inventors encouraging them and most often granting them scholarships to further their education.
