Asantehene Marks Last Awukudae in 2023
The last Awukudae festival of the year 2023 was observed by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace on December 20.
The festival like always drew celebrants from across the country and beyond to pay homage and experience the rich culture of the Asante Kingdom.
Commissioner for North Lauderdale in Miami in the United States of America (USA), Dr Regina Martin who was at the festival couldn’t hide her admiration at the display of culture through appellation, outfits, the local dialect, utilization of linguists and other traditional traits.
The first African American Caribbean woman to be elected to the office she presently occupies was led to the Manhyia Palace by the Tourism Ambassador for Miami-Dade County, Nancy Sam, a Ghanaian.
Dr Martin who traces her roots to Haiti in North America and back to the Asante Kingdom was accompanied by some black officials from the US.
Also taking advantage of the occasion to pay homage to Otumfuo were royals, traditional rulers, the Forestry Commission, Ghana Baptist Convention, Yaa Asantewaa Memorial Heritage, National Best Cocoa Farmer, Car Rentals Association of Ghana, Royal Golf Club, Management for Centre for National Culture, Asante Zongo Youth Association, Ghana Drought Association, Anglican Bishops and Archbishop Prince Hampel.
The next Awukudae festival is on January 31, 2023.
