Asantehene Inspects Clean-up Exercise
The Occupant of the Golden Stool, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has given the clean-up works done by residents in selected parts of Kumasi the once-over.
As the leader he is, he personally stepped out to encourage people to do the work and inspect the pace with which it was going on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
The exercise which took place across Asanteman marked the outset of the celebration of His Majesty’s Silver Jubilee on the Golden Stool.
He set out from the Manhyia Palace around 10am smartly dressed in a white polo shirt matching a white baseball cap, khaki and white sneakers and accompanied by traditional authorities, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon Samuel Pyne, the President of Angel Group, Dr Oteng and others.
The convoy of the King passed through the Airport Roundabout, went through Krofrom and then headed straight to Tafo where he made a stop in front of the Palace of Tafohene Nana Agyen-Frimpong.
The King was greeted by a crowd made up of Tafo residents who were still tidying up the surroundings. He inspected some gutters that had been desilted and awaiting the arrival of waste trucks to carry the filth off.
He received some briefing about the exercise from Nana Agyen-Frimpong before setting off to Bantama.
At Bantama, he alighted in front of the palace of Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, where he was met by the head of the Kontri Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) and walked some metres to the Komfo Anokye roundabout, inspecting the work done and receiving updates.
The next point of call was Adum. It was a brief stop for Otumfuo to exchange pleasantries with Adumhene Baffuor Agyei Kesse IV but that didn’t end there. The Monarch made his way to Adum Nsuase where Otumfuo Akyeamehene Nsuase Poku led His Majesty around to some vantage points with trash bins for the exercise.
The whole place appeared all cleaned up and sanitized. This was before noon and all shops were locked to make way for the exercise.
From there, the King’s van headed to Kejetia where he was met by a loud, rowdy, energetic crowd. Work was still ongoing around the new Kejetia market, where he joined in clearing some filth desilted from a drain into a bin.
He then took to Asafo and then concluded at Alabar before heading back to the Manhyia Palace at 12:34 pm, covering more than two hours of inspections in six suburbs of Kumasi.
Asantehene is 25 years old on the Golden Stool. He marks 25 years of unparalleled leadership coupled with an enviable track record.
