Asantehene Hails Quality of UPSA Products

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has applauded the University of Professional Studies, Accra, for the calibre of products it churns out.

Otumfuo observes that products of the institution are of high quality and exhibit competence in various sectors of the country.

“What comforts my heart is the quality of products the school produces,” His Majesty, an alumnus of the school, said during a courtesy visit by the Management on January 30, 2026.

Introduction
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor of the school, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, introduced Dr Harry L.K. Agbanu as the Council Chairman, Prof. Emmanuel S. Asamoah as the Pro VC, Mrs Lorraine Buerkie Gyan as the Registrar and Rev. Francis Dadzie as the President of the UPSA Global Alumni.

The delegation also included Hon Kan Dapaah, an Alumnus and former Minister for Defence.

“The last time I came here, I came alone. Today, I come to introduce the new management of the institution.”

Otumfuo Centre for Leadership
The King was also updated about the status of the Otumfuo Centre for Leadership, which provides the platform for an institutionalised training programme for traditional leaders.

The VC reported that the training is being conducted across the country.

Appreciation
Meanwhile, he extended his profound appreciation to Otumfuo as he credited His Majesty for the sanity and peace currently prevailing in the institution.

“The last time I came, there was turmoil in the school; however, after the intervention of His Majesty, peace has been restored.”

Anniversary
The delegation also formally informed Otumfuo about the upcoming 60th Anniversary of the school.

The VC conveyed the year-long celebration outlined this year to mark the milestone.

They thus deemed it imperative to seek the presence of the Asantehene at the event.

As part of the celebration, he disclosed plans to hold a lecture where the Asantehene will bless the corporate industry from across the country with knowledge in leadership and conflict resolution.

Customised T-shirt
In a follow-up to this, the President of the UPSA Global Alumni, Rev Francis Dadzie, presented a customized T-Shirt for the anniversary to the King.

“The anniversary will be incomplete without the Asantehene’s presence,” he said.

For his part, the Council Chair humbly remarked that the place of the King in the school is indelible.

Dr Agbanu also stated that leadership was open to the directions of the Monarch.

Advancement
The Asantehene acknowledged that the institution had advanced over the years to be one of the leaders and a preferred destination for big events.

“The school has come far. In our days, we had limited infrastructure, and so we had to further our studies abroad. It has grown to be one of the leading institutions today and has trained distinguished Ghanaians.”

His Majesty also accepted the invitation to attend the celebration and committed to financially supporting the Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership and the alumni group.
