Asantehene Destools Chief Of Antoa
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has destooled Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman, the chief of Antoa.
The ruling was delivered by the President of the Kumasi Traditional Council on his first sitting following his trip to the United Kingdom (UK).
This was on May 29, 2023.
Nana Kwame Owusu Agyeman had been on the stool for 23 years.
The chief is reported to have gone against the customarily laid out and accepted procedures in instating his nephew to take over from him while he lives.
When he was confronted by his kinsmen and elders to seek the permission of Otumfuo, he reportedly denigrated the King.
After hearing his case on Monday evening, the King ruled against him and ordered his destoolment.
The destoolment rites are currently underway in the town.
