Asantehene Calls For Review Of Political Campaigns
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advocated for productive dynamism in the county’s politics to drive youth development and economic growth.
He is looking forward to a positively driven youth-centered political campaign, something he has yet to see in any political campaign the country has ever witnessed.
“It is my wish that for once political campaigns will focus on how to productively engage the youth to drive the economy,” he said in a speech at the 57th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on March 23, 2024.
His Majesty also used the occasion to call for sanitized and healthy campaigns among parties in the lead-up to the 2024 national election.
“As the campaign gains momentum, the government and all stakeholders, especially the political parties and the teeming supporters, should uphold the sanctity of discourse and refrain from the propagation of divisive rhetoric and incendiary language.”
According to him, the upcoming election is another platform to reaffirm the country’s exemplary democratic values and to preserve the same in front of the world, and therefore, concerted efforts are needed.
Calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to uphold fairness and impartiality in the electoral process, His Majesty also encouraged the general public to unite in safeguarding the longstanding integrity of the nation’s democratic values in all earnestness.
