Asantehene Blesses Stanbic Bank’s Planned Board Strategy Session in Kumasi

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has offered his blessings for Stanbic Bank Ghana’s planned Board Strategy Session- a high-level meeting to review strategies of the bank- in Kumasi to carry on.

During a courtesy visit by the Management and Board of Directors of the financial institution on August 19, 2025, His Majesty was informed of the plans to host the meeting in the second capital, and how the passing of the Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, had been unforeseen.

“We had planned six months ago to host our Board Strategy Session in Kumasi,” Mr Kwamina Asomaning, the Chief Executive of the company indicated.

He said hosting the event in Kumasi was deliberate and aimed at deepening the bonds between the bank and Asanteman; reaffirming the bonds between the bank and the Asantehene; as well as honouring Asanteman.

“Unbeknown to us, this tragedy had befallen us, so it was proper that we come and express our condolences, and the Bank is deeply grateful for the partnership we have enjoyed with Otumfuo. On short notice, he always receives us. We appreciate it.

“We feel the best way we can continue to honour this relationship is to make sure the Ashanti Kingdom continues to produce very strong results. The entire bank remains committed to this, and we do hope to continue to uphold this tradition.”

Otumfuo gave the group the nod to go ahead with the event, offering his utmost support.

“Go ahead with your Board meeting here.”

His Majesty also affirmed the Palace’s continued support for the bank.

“The ties between Manhyia and Stanbic look familial. It will continue that way.”
