Asantehene At 23: Peace Reigns In Asanteman; Chieftaincy Dispute Has Past – GBA

The Ghana Bar Association has shown its greatest admiration in celebrating the 23rd anniversary of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s enstoolment on the Golden Stool as
Asantehene.

Speaking on Opemsuo Radio with Wofa Yamoa Frimpong on the Nkwantananso Show, Otumfuo’s 23rd Anniversary Edition yesterday, the President of the Ghana Bar Association, Lawyer Yaw Acheampong Boafo, stated that, “peace now reigns in Asanteman and chieftaincy disputes is a thing of the past”.

He disclosed that, right after the ascension of Otumfuo in 1999 to the Golden Stool, Otumfuo invited the Ghana Bar Association, Ashanti Regional Chapter, to report all chieftaincy disputes, those presided on and pending ones to his doorstep for the needed resolution. He continued that, Otumfuo traditionally settled all chieftaincy disputes resulting in total peace in Asanteman.

Lawyer Yaw Boafo revealed that numerous chieftaincy disputes avail in Asanteman and it was a lucrative venture for lawyers in the Ashanti region before the era of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, but from 1999 since Otumfuo ascended the throne as Asantehene, this has been a thing of the past.
