Asante Professionals Club to Establish Dedicated Bank for Asanteman

Plans are underway for the establishment of a dedicated bank that will focus on business initiatives and development within the Asante Kingdom, according to the Asante Professionals Club (APC).

This was disclosed on Sunday, 25th May 2025, during the launch of the group’s 10th anniversary celebrations at the Erata Hotel in East Legon, Accra.

According to the APC, the idea of establishing a dedicated bank for Asanteman was first proposed by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who tasked the Club with developing a framework for bringing it to life in order to stimulate business development in the Kingdom.

Outlining activities planned for the celebration, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Vincent Frimpong Manu Esq., indicated that a team of experts has been assembled to conduct a feasibility study for the establishment of the bank as a legacy project of the APC.

“Our King, Otumfuo, charged us to find a way to set up a bank dedicated to business development in Asanteman. As we all know, the people of Asanteman are business-oriented—regardless of their profession, they often engage in some form of business.

So, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, the committee has commissioned experts to prepare a feasibility proposal for establishing a dedicated bank for Asanteman as our legacy project,” he emphasised.

Mr. Frimpong Manu further told members that once the report is ready, it will be presented to the Asantehene for the necessary blessing and guidance.

He explained that the bank will provide financial support to businesses in the Asante Kingdom to promote growth and development.

The APC, he added, is also considering the establishment of an ICT Center as an additional legacy project. He called on members to rally behind the leadership to realise these ambitious proposals.

Among other anniversary activities, he announced the production of an “Impact Documentary” to tell the story of APC’s journey over the past 10 years.

He also noted that there will be the “Opemsuo Lecture” to be held in Kumasi, and the entire membership will participate in the celebration of the final Akwasidae, where a banquet will be held.
