Asante Kotoko Player Ratings: Heartbreak in Super Clash Loss to 10-Man Hearts of Oak

The Baba Yara Stadium was silenced in disbelief as Asante Kotoko suffered a painful 0-1 home defeat to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Baba Adamu’s 14th-minute looping header ended the Porcupine Warriors’ three-year unbeaten streak against the Phobians.
Despite Hearts going down to ten men after Emmanuel Amankwah’s red card in the 25th minute, Kotoko pressed hard, created chances and dominated large spells, but lacked the cutting edge to find an equalizer in a tensed encounter.
Here are the ratings for all Asante Kotoko players who featured in the game
Mohammed Camara (Goalkeeper) – 3/10
Poor positioning cost the Porcupine Warriors dearly as he failed to parry away Baba Adamu’s header, allowing the ball to loop over him into the net for the only goal of the game. The early blunder haunted the entire contest and left his side chasing shadows in a match they controlled especially in the second half but couldn’t win.
Lord Amoah (Right-back) – 6/10
Had a good game overall, surging forward with purpose and delivering some quality crosses into the box to trouble the Hearts defence. Showed effort and attacking intent but couldn’t inspire the breakthrough needed to turn the tide.
Patrick Asiedu (Left-back) – 4.5/10
Wasn’t really bad defensively but his negative comments earlier towards their opponents somehow affected him, leading to struggles in handling his marker Martin Karikari on the left flank at some point.
Henry Ansu (Center-back) – 3.5/10
Wasn’t really exceptional at the back and got subbed off late in the first half due to injury. Struggled to assert himself in aerial duels and couldn’t provide the commanding presence to shut down the early set-piece threat.
Musah Hamzata (Center-back, substitute for Henry Ansu) – 3.5/10
The stalwart defender came on but wasn’t any exceptional either, failing to bring the stability or leadership needed to steady the ship and struggled to impose himself in a tense second half.
Samba O’Neil (Center-back/Captain) – 4.5/10
As a captain, he led the players very well for good conduct on the pitch, showing leadership and organisation. Performance-wise he wasn’t up to his own standard.
Prince Badu (Midfielder) – 4/10
Having just joined in the second round and doing well generally, he wasn’t himself in this game. Struggled to influence proceedings and was replaced by striker Kwame Opoku in the 64th minute.
Kwame Opoku (Striker, substitute for Prince Badu) – 3/10
Came on in the 64th minute but added nothing to the attack. Failed to make an impact or create any danger as Kotoko chased the game desperately.
Hubert Gyau (Midfielder) – 6.5/10
Kotoko’s best player in the game by some distance. Dropped deep to receive balls, made great runs into the opposition area and showed good ball distribution. Tormented the Hearts backline with pace and creativity but lacked support to convert the chances that fell on their path especially in the second half.
Walid Fuseini Neymar (Midfielder) – 3.5/10
Started well but was handled too early by Hearts of Oak’s double pivot of Abdul Karim and David Oppong Afrane. He couldn’t impose himself and was replaced by Congolese striker Morifing Donzo.
Morifing Donzo (Striker, substitute for Walid Neymar) – 3/10
Came on to add up for a two-striker system but added nothing. Failed to make any meaningful contribution as the attack lacked sharpness.
Saaka Dauda (Forward) – 4/10
Was on and off throughout, the victim of the foul that led to Emmanuel Amankwah’s second yellow card and red in the 25th minute. Yet he wasn’t any exceptional, struggling to make a consistent impact in the final third.
Dogo Yakubu (Forward) – 3.5/10
One of the few new players, but added nothing to the attack. Struggled to get into the game and was replaced by midfielder Seth Kwadwo.
Seth Kwadwo (Midfielder, substitute for Dogo Yakubu) – 4/10
Did well with his forward passing as he never misplaced any after coming on, showing composure in distribution. But couldn’t spark the comeback needed.
Albert Amoah (Forward) – 4/10
Just returned from a Libyan club Al Ahly Benghazi but failed to prevail this time. Struggled to make his mark and couldn’t provide the spark Kotoko desperately needed.
The passionate supporters will demand an immediate response when the team travels to face Young Apostles on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Wenchi.
