Asamoah Gyan “Feels Special” after Otumfuo Stopped to Give him Audience

On his way to the venue for the Asanteman Council meeting on Thursday, July 4, 2024, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II took a detour to give audience to Ghanaian legendary retired football player, Asamoah Gyan.

The former Black Stars player stood among a large crowd that awaited the coming of His Majesty around the designated venue for the meeting inside the Manhyia Palace and was identified by His Majesty.

The King beckoned to him to come close during which Gyan had the opportunity to inform him about his mission to the Palace, apparently about his All Regional Games.

Reacting to the gesture and the reception of the Occupant of the Golden Stool in a social media post a day after the encounter, Gyan said Otumfuo made him feel special and blessed.

“I have never felt so special in my life like this before, For Opemsuo to stop just to have few words with me, I really feel blessed.’

About All Regional Games
The All Regional Games is a multi-discipline sports competition conceived by the former Black Stars captain to dig out sporting talents across Ghana to revive the country’s sports.

The championship which targets athletes between the ages of 18 and 23, features disciplines like football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, e-sports, and armwrestling.

The initiative requires each region to conduct trials and select its top sportsmen and women, who will then compete against representatives from other regions.

The Championship will be launched in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
