ARCC Rolls Out Cash Reward System to Fight Indiscriminate Waste Disposal

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has instituted a motivation mechanism to deal with indiscriminate waste disposal within the region.
The Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, in a Facebook post, encouraged the public to document and report individuals who dispose of waste irresponsibly, promising a 50% reward of any fines imposed on the offenders.

The move is aimed at curbing the menace of littering and promoting a cleaner environment.

“When you see someone dumping refuse indiscriminately, just record them and bring the video to us. We will give you 50% of the fines imposed on the person. Good deal?”

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability and protect public health.

With the public’s help, the Council is confident that the Region can become a cleaner and healthier place to live.

It comes after residents of Atwima Nwabigya North captured on camera some residents dumping their waste into a river that connects the Owabe River, which supplies water to households within the region.
